Woven Fence, 2000NOVA Continuation High School—Los Gatos, CA
Description: With the help of students, Gould and Rogers transformed an unsightly chain-link fence bordering the student break area into "Woven Fence.” The artists worked with the teenagers to create designs inspired by ancient and modern symbols, from Neolithic cave drawings to Egyptian hieroglyphics to contemporary logos. The symbols were fabricated out of metal and later returned to the students who wove the metal symbols and the chain link fence with plastic strips. The students chose the blue, white and black color scheme as a bold backdrop for their outdoor activities.
